I am using safari on OSX- sometimes when i click an mp3 download link, wanting to download an mp3 file off a site, it will simply open it in quicktime and not download it.
when i click on the same link in internet explorer (on my desktop pc), it downloads it automatically.
is there anything i can do to have the files download instead of simply open in the window?
thanks!
Mac download annoyance?
The link you are clicking on is to a file on a web server so it is supposed to open in a web page of Safari or Firefox, whichever you are using. QuickTime plugin is what makes the file play music, video or whatever. It is not the actual QuickTime application that opens (look at the Dock and you will see that QuickTime is not open).
To bypass the link's normal process of opening a new window, hold the option key as you click. From the contextual menu, choose "Save link as...".
Sometimes a video or audio file is embedded in a web page rather than linked to a separate window. For that, you use Firefox with an extension installed called "Video DownloadHelper", link below.
Reply:you have to adjest the sitting on your safari or quick time
