I use windows xp and vista both, when i am downloading files to my computer on vista i can close out all internet explorer and still be downloading files, but with XP if i am downloading files and i close out the internet explorer the download also quits, is there a way or something that i can configure to all the file to continue downloading even after i close out all internet explorer pages on XP Home Edition

The behavior that you describe is the default behavior for Internet Explorer. If it's not working you're probably getting a silent error when you close IE, which crashes the download windows.
You might want to uninstall or disable all IE add-ons to see if the problem goes away.
Reply:the downloads are through IE or whatever browser you use. so you can't quit the browser while downloading. just leave it open.
