ive opened the built in anti virus software on my computer and it says that that program has been corrupted..

ive tried system restore and the problems still there.

previous to this problem i downloaded spybot find and destroy, now when i try to run a check for viruses it tell me to download updates, i go to download updates and it then tell me the spybot program has been corrupted..

it also says temporary internet files cannot be downloaded or something..

i think my computers screwed, what else can i do?

I understand i need to download antivirus software but you dont understand..?
most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.

you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar.

firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser.

as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE. download firefox for free, Just have a try:

Good Luck !
Reply:Download an AV program installer, plus adaware and spybot for a friends computer and burn them to a CD, then install locally.

Get ADAWARE from www.lavasoftusa.com Runs that (Adaware peronal version is Free)

also get and run SPYBOT S%26amp;D from www.spybot.org

Once you have run each of these (update each before runnings, option on front screen of both of them) you should be clear again.

Between them it should get it.

Also FREE anti virus at

www.avast.com
Reply:I guess you don't want to do a full reformatted installation.

Can you remember how long ago this happened? It might be a clue indicating if you downloaded something nasty. I have had problems similar to this that were simply from conflicts in the programs.

Try booting up in safe mode and scan from there.

You should really try to avoid running two anti virus programs at the same time. They often conflict with each other.

Running multiple firewalls is usually OK and multiple anti spyware normally is OK. It might slow you down but is not noticible most of the time.
Reply:Sounds like you've got some serious problems in your computer. Might take a professional to get it right again.
Reply:You need to do some hard drive swapping or else open windows in safe mode. You may have to close some processes manually.

Put the hard drive in another computer that has windows. Back up all the files you need, and reformat. Your windows seems pretty much FUBR.
Reply:get a new hard drive from argos, pc world, etc., you might need an IT technician to install it. but check if it works with your computer first. i know it's not much but it's a start. good luck :)
Reply:My computer recently picked up a virus that wouldn't let me open my programs.I finally downloaded AVG free from Grisoft.com. Now I'm up to speed.
