Where can I download Msgr7 not 7.5 or 8.1that does NOT make a .tmp file 1st <Dropped conn = restart>?

I stupidly uninstalled msgr7 and downloaded 8.1 then installed same. I got stack dumps and a yahoofoundation.dll error due to my having win 98 PIII EB600 processor and installing msgr 8.1. I have a wireless radio telephone connection that the speeds are 19,200 baud at best. The .tmp file is DELETED each time you restart the download due to a dropped connection and it takes over 3 hours per download. Yahoo should do two things 1. Put the system requirements on the same page as the download link page. 2. make links for win98 users off the messenger 8.1 download page so other people can download version 7.0 Yahoo Messenger {7.0.0.242} and do not make the same mistake I did.

Where can I download Msgr7 not 7.5 or 8.1that does NOT make a .tmp file 1st %26lt;Dropped conn = restart%26gt;?
hi :)

i'm not going to be of much help but a couple of things you try...

yahoo's system requirements for v8+ are tucked away on this page http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/tutorials/... and W98 is still support (not all features are available tho) so if you did want to try installing it agian it might be best to try to download the full exe file rather than the installer...

8.1.0.239 (for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP) released 19 January 07

Direct Download Location (yahoo servers):

http://download.yahoo.com/dl/msgr8/us/ym...

perhaps opt for using a download manager with resume, that way you wont loose time (effort or sanity) should your connection drop.

you can also down the full exe files for v7 and v7.5...

v7.5.0.819 (for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP) released 16 June 06

still available for download directly from Yahoo's servers, you can grab it from...

http://download.yahoo.com/dl/msgr75/us/y...

last release of v7...

7.0.2.120 (for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP) 23 December 05 still available for download directly from Yahoo's servers, you can grab it from...

http://us.dl1.yimg.com/download.yahoo.co...

as above, if you use a download manager you will be able to resume as all the exe files linked are stored on yahoo's own servers.

the versions above still unpack to a custom tmp folder but as they are the full versions (not minor installers where you download the remaining online) once you have the actual file you shouldn't run into any grief should your connection drop :)
