If you download music from download.com is it legal to ...?
on download.com there is a feature where artists post there cds and select which tracks are free for the public to download.
What I want to know is if its legal to use this 'free' track in something like a presentation (public or private).
and, to take this further, is it possible to modify the track, (eg ommit parts)

If it is there to DL for "free" then it should be fine.
What is illegal is P2P downloads, which most of the sites that offer those will take off the ones that could cause conflicts.
I have had no problems so far with all of the sites I have been on to date.
