If I download a file at a rate of 30kB/s with a cable connection of 10Mbps will I download slower if....?

If I download a file at a rate of 30kB/s with a cable internet connection of 10Mbps will the same file download slower if I switch to a DSL connection of 3Mbps? Would it download fast if I increased my internet speed to 15Mbps? After all the source of the file is allowing me to download only at a rate of 10kB/s.

If I download a file at a rate of 30kB/s with a cable connection of 10Mbps will I download slower if....?
There are 8 bits in a Byte... so if your file download is only 30 KB/sec then all you need is a 240kpbs connection to equal that. So if you switch to a 3mbps connection you can essentially download up to 375 KB/sec
Reply:going high is good

low is never good

i say DSL is the worst service you can get

cable and fiber optics

is whats going to make ppl want more

broadband

the download will slow down if you go 3mbps but then again you really never see the speed you get

i have 20Mbps and really sometimes see 16 or peek at 19

so if i download at times if i get 14.28Mbps download speed i only download files at 1.79 MB/Sec

hope this helps
Reply:it is upto the speed of the source as you can have 1gb/s speed but if the source has 10kb/s then it will download at next to nothing then if files are cached on isp servers it can speed it up as well.
Reply:No. your downloads can only go as fast as the source will allow. The speed really becomes noticeable when you do multiple downloads though.
Reply:It can only download at the speed dictated by its' source. Most ISPs can not supply more than 8Mbps, those who claim more often have difficulty even reaching 8.
